How to Choose an Air Purifier:
Air purifiers can help reduce dust, pollen and other allergens in a room. Some air purifiers can also lessen or eliminate odors. In order to get the cleanest air, and the best value for your money, you'll need to research air purifiers carefully before buying. You can choose an air purifier by visiting stores and asking questions, but some of the best information is available online. Since many manufacturers claim that their air purifiers work great, try to find as much independent testing information as you can

  • Choose a type of air purifier. Most air purifiers use either filters or ionic air purification. Filters remove particles from the air by trapping them, and HEPA filters are required to remove 99.97% of particles 0.3 microns or larger in size. Ionic or ionizer air purifiers charge particles in the air in the order to collect them
  • Decide on any additional air purifier features you need, such as odor removal. Most air purifiers use activated carbon filters to help remove odors, such as pet odors, chemical smells and smoke from the air. Make sure the filter you choose removes or neutralizes the odors rather than just masking them
  • Pick a size of air purifier. Some air purifiers are small enough to wear around your neck, while others are appropriate for an office desk, small room, large room or whole house. The air purifier should say how many square feet of air it's designed to filter
  • Check to see how often the filters need to be replaced, and how much they cost. Some air purifiers have filters that can be vacuumed or washed, which can save money, but can also cause more problems with allergies than replacing the filter. Make sure that replacement filters or parts are readily available
  • Find out how much noise the air purifier makes, especially if you plan to let it run constantly or in your bedroom at night. The data sheet or customer service department should be able to give you the noise level in decibels
  • Find out how much energy the air purifier uses, especially if you plan to use it all the time. Some air purifiers are designed to be energy efficient, or certified by Energy Star
  • Compare prices of various air purifiers. The costs for air purifiers vary widely, from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars. Although price can be a sign of quality, more expensive air purifiers are not necessarily more efficient or reliable. Make sure to include the cost of running the air purifier (including filters or replacement parts and energy costs) in your comparison
  • Pick a style of air purifier. Make sure it fits in the area you want to use it for. Many air purifiers need to placed at least several inches away from walls in order to maximize air circulation
How to Use Air Purifiers:

If you have allergies or asthma, an air purifier can greatly improve your quality of life. Air filters remove dust, pollen, mold and many other environmental pollutants which can trigger both asthma and allergies and exasperate colds and other upper respiratory infections. Keep in mind that an air purifier is not a magical wellness box. It needs to be used properly to be effective

  • Get a air filter. There are some small filters that work great in cozy rooms but aren't going to do the trick in a big living room. Air filters usually come with recommendations which tell you how big a room they should be used in
  • Clean and maintain your air purifier regularly. HEPA air filters need to have their filters replaced, whereas electrostatic filters need to be taken out and cleaned. Many air filters have automatic warning lights that tell you when they need to be cleaned
  • Keep doors and windows closed. Air purifiers are not very effective when air is continually moving in and out of the room. If you like a breeze during the day, turn the air purifier off to save energy. Then, close the windows at night and run the filter
  • Put the air purifier near to any known source of dirty air. Air ducts can circulate a lot of dust along with heated air, so you might want to keep your air purifier near the duct
  • Keep your room clean. An air purifier can only do so much. You need to regularly remove dust from the air and discourage the growth of mold through good housekeeping
  • Don't block the filter. Make sure the intake vents and the air output are at least a few feet away from any nearby objects

When I first heard about this gizmo I though it might smell of Apple when plugged-in. But after reading the product page I came to know that though it's an air purifier it doesn't smell of apple. The usb device is just shaped as an apple, no smell of apple at all. I would have definitely consider of buying if it smells of apple. The gadget is designed to purify air using millions of negative ions to clean and ionize the air thoroughly. It boast of a high-performance fan that immediately & silently draws the polluted air in then disperse the negative ions evenly back into the air.
